Honeymoon planning is one of the more exciting parts of planning your wedding. It is likely the first time you and your fiancé will be traveling alone together and the world is literally open to you as possible destinations beckon. Depending on your budget and your personalities, there is no reason to settle on a conventional sun destination for your getaway. If you are an active couple, then you might be more interested in adventure travel; if you are history buffs, then your ideal honeymoon might involve visiting the sites of several ancient civilizations; if you enjoy the outdoors, then you might actually prefer a camping trip in a spectacular location!
Where to look
The internet is probably the best place to start your search for that ideal honeymoon destination. There are countless deals to be found online. The key to planning the perfect honeymoon is to keep looking until you find the right combination of destination/transportation/hotel. The only thing to watch out for when using an online discount travel site is that you will get no customer support or service once the initial booking is made – and making any kind of change after your booking will be a real hassle.
If you are not comfortable doing the research yourself, you can always go through a travel agent. Not only will a good travel agent find you good deals but they will be able to hook you up with possibilities and extras that you would not get by booking yourself. Travel agents get perks that they often pass on to their customers such as free breakfasts, discounts off car rentals and upgrades at hotels.
Permits, Visas, Vaccinations
If you are planning on an exotic honeymoon locale, then you might need to get special visas and/or permissions to visit that place. You may even need to get vaccinations against such diseases as hepatitis and malaria. If you do need to get vaccinations then make sure that you get them done well in advance of your honeymoon because some vaccines actually require a gestation period before they become effective. If you are unsure of what the country you are visiting requires, call up their embassy to find out what you need in order to enter the country. It is always best to be on the safe side, than to find yourself in a foreign country faced with returning immediately because you do not have the right paperwork!
Planning your honeymoon does not have to be a budget-blowing experience. As long as you both are looking forward to it and it suits your lifestyle then even renting an RV and driving across country can be the perfect trip! After all, you have to be happy going on this trip. Do not let others influence you in the kind of excursion you should make for your honeymoon – because in the end, you and your fiancé will be the ones travelling.
